Sarah Cox Artist Biography

Sarah Cox is of Wongai and Banjima descent on her mother’s side and of Scottish descent on her father’s side.
Her grandparents, from Wiluna and Port Hedland were part of the Stolen Generation. They were raised at Sister Kate’s Children’s Home.
Sarah married a Bard, Nirumbud, Noongar man from the Kimberley 20 years ago, have three boys and live in Broome. Sarah is a primary school teacher.
Sarah’s paintings alternate between vibrant and earthy colours. They are flowing, strong, often feel rough to touch and convey a meaning where words often fail. Sarah hopes her paintings have a positive effect on audiences.
